Tension in Guwahati

There is a lot of tension in Guwahati right now because around 5,000 Congress workers are trying to enter the city for the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. But the police are stopping them from going any further.

Permission Denied

The government in Assam, led by Himanta Biswa Sarma, said no to the Yatra going through the main roads in Guwahati. They said it was a working day and having the Yatra on those roads would cause a lot of traffic. Instead, they asked the Congress workers to take the National Highway 27, which goes around the city.

Protests and Accusations

The Congress workers are not happy about this decision. They think the government is making up excuses to stop them. They believe that the Himanta Biswa Sarma government is purposely trying to create problems for Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra. They say that since they arrived in Assam, the Chief Minister has been attacking them and their leaders.

Barred from Visiting a Shrine

Yesterday, there was a big incident when Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to visit a famous shrine in Guwahati. The Chief Minister asked him not to go there until the ceremony for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was over. The shrine’s managing committee also said he couldn’t enter until 3 pm.

Rahul Gandhi’s Response

Rahul Gandhi and his team were stopped on their way to the shrine. They sat down and protested at the roadblock. Eventually, some members of Congress went to the shrine and prayed there. Later, Rahul Gandhi spoke to the media and said that he believed in the teachings of Srimanta Sankardeva, the social reformer associated with the shrine. He said that he wanted to pay his respects to him but was not allowed to. He also mentioned that the shrine’s managing committee had agreed to his visit at first but then changed their minds.

More Roadblocks

This is not the only problem Rahul Gandhi has faced during his Yatra. In Meghalaya, a state near Assam, he was supposed to meet with students at a university, but the local authorities canceled the event. Rahul Gandhi thinks that the Union home minister instructed them to do so.

In conclusion, Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra has faced a lot of obstacles, from being denied permission to travel on certain roads to being stopped from visiting important places. The Congress workers are not happy about this and believe that the government is intentionally trying to make things difficult for them.
