To address this problem, the government of Rajasthan has launched a universal health insurance scheme called Mukhyamantri Chiranjivi Swasthya Bima Yojana (MCBSBY). The scheme was announced by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Ashok Gehlot, in the state budget for 2021-22. The registration process for the scheme started on April 1, 2021.

The scheme provides health insurance coverage of up to Rs. 5 lacks per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. The scheme covers more than 1576 medical tests and procedures, including Covid-19 treatment and hemodialysis for poor people. The scheme also covers the cost of tests, medicines, and a related package of 15 days after getting discharged from the hospital.

The scheme is implemented by the Department of Medical, Health and Family Welfare, Government of Rajasthan, in collaboration with the National Health Authority (NHA), Government of India. The scheme is integrated with the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and the Ayushman Bharat Mahatma Gandhi Rajasthan Swasthya Bima Yojana (AB-MGRSBY).

Who is eligible for Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana?

The scheme covers all the families that come under Below-Poverty Line (BPL), National Food Security Act (NFSA), and Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) categories. These families are eligible for free treatment under the scheme.

The scheme also covers small and marginal farmers and contractual workers who are registered with the Labour Department. These families are also eligible for free treatment under the scheme.

The scheme also covers families who do not come under any of the above categories. These families can also get insured by paying a nominal premium of Rs. 850 per year. However, these families have to pay a registration fee of Rs. 20 and a premium fee of Rs. 10 at the time of enrollment.

How to register for Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana?

The eligible families can register for the scheme online or offline. The online registration can be done through the official website of the scheme https://chiranjeevi.rajasthan.gov.in/ or through the e-Mitra portal https://emitraapp.rajasthan.gov.in/emitraApps/citizenDashBoard.

The offline registration can be done through any of the impaneled hospitals or Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the state. The applicants have to provide their Aadhaar card, ration card, or any other identity proof along with their family details and mobile number.

The applicants will receive an e-card after a successful registration. The e-card can be downloaded from the website or obtained from the CSCs or hospitals. The e-card can be used to avail of cashless treatment at any of the impaneled hospitals in Rajasthan or outside.
