Manobala was a well-known Tamil actor, comedian, director, and producer who has appeared in over 800 films in various genres. He was also a popular television personality who hosted several shows and judged comedy competitions. Manobala was born on December 8, 1953, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. His father was a stage actor and his mother was a homemaker. He developed an interest in acting and comedy from a young age and participated in many school and college dramas. He also joined a drama troupe called Nungambakkam Boys Kondattam and performed in various places.

Manobala made his film debut in 1979 with the movie 16 Vayathinile, directed by Bharathiraja. He played a small role as a bus conductor. He then acted in several films as a supporting actor or comedian, such as Nizhalgal, Tik Tik Tik, Uyarntha Ullam, Chinna Thambi, and many more. He also worked as an assistant director for some films, such as Pudhiya Vaarpugal and Kizhakke Pogum Rail.

Manobala got his first break as a lead actor in 1987 with the movie Samsaram Adhu Minsaram, directed by Visu. He played the role of Chidambaram, a middle-class man who struggles to manage his large family. The film was a huge hit and won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Manobala received critical acclaim and public recognition for his performance.

Manobala continued to act in lead roles in some films, such as Thalattu Ketkuthamma, Chinna Jameen, Thaikulame Thaikulame, and others. He also played prominent supporting roles or comic roles in many films, such as Gentleman, Indian, Suryavamsam, Padayappa, Anniyan, and many more. He worked with many famous directors and actors in the Tamil film industry and established himself as a versatile and talented actor.

Manobala also ventured into direction and production in the late 1990s. He directed four films: Kai Veesamma Kai Veesu (1998), Kunguma Pottu Gounder (2001), Ilasu Puthusu Kailasu (2006), and Siva Manasula Sakthi (2009). He also produced some films under his banner Manobala’s Picture House, such as Sathuranga Vettai (2014), Mo (2016), and Peechankai (2017).

Manobala was also active in television and has hosted several shows such as Asathapovathu Yaaru, Kalakka Povathu Yaaru Champions, Comedy Junction, and others. He has also judged comedy shows such as Comedy Khiladis, Sirippu Da, and others. He was known for his witty remarks and humorous interactions with the contestants and audiences.

Manobala was married to Usha and has two children: Harsha Vardhan and Jeevitha. He was a devout Hindu and follows the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. He was also involved in social service activities and supports various causes such as education, health care, and environment.
