Starting from May 1, 2023, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has introduced new regulations to curb spam calls and messages. These regulations are aimed at protecting consumers from unwanted and fraudulent communication from telemarketers and scammers.

Additionally, telemarketers must obtain explicit consent from consumers before sending any commercial communication. This consent can be obtained through various means, including written consent, electronic consent, or through a toll-free number provided by the telemarketer.

The new regulations also require telemarketers to identify themselves and the purpose of the call or message at the beginning of each communication. This identification must include the name of the business and the nature of the communication.
