If you are a fan of the Kia Seltos, you might be interested to know that the popular SUV is getting a facelift soon. The Seltos facelift was first unveiled in South Korea in June 2022 and is expected to be launched in India by mid-2023. The updated Seltos will come with some cosmetic changes, a new engine option and a host of new features. Here’s everything you need to know about the Kia Seltos facelift.

Exterior design changes

The Seltos facelift will retain its overall silhouette but will sport a fresh face with a redesigned grille and headlamps. The signature tiger-nose grille will be larger than before and will have a new mesh pattern. The LED DRLs will be repositioned within the grille instead of at the top as in the current model. The headlamps will also get new internals with revised LED signatures.

The side profile will not see much change, except for a new design for the 17-inch alloy wheels. The rear end, however, will get significant updates with new vertically oriented tail lamps that will be connected by a light bar. The light bar will also house the Kia badge, replacing the chrome strip on the current model. The tailgate will also get a new shape with a bigger indentation for the number plate. The rear bumper will get a dual-tone finish with repositioned reflectors and a faux skid plate.

Interior and features upgrade

The biggest change inside the cabin of the Seltos facelift will be a new twin, connected screen layout for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The current model has separate screens housed within the same binnacle, but the facelifted model will have a seamless screen, much like the Mahindra XUV700. This will also result in a slight redesign of the dashboard with slimmer central AC vents and repositioned switchgear for the HVAC controls.

The Seltos facelift will also get some new features such as a panoramic sunroof, navigation-based smart cruise control, highway driving assistance, surround view monitor, automatic high beams and remote smart parking assist. These features are already available on the international model and are expected to make their way to India as well. The safety features will include six airbags, hill assist control, vehicle stability management, parking sensors and camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

New engine option

The Seltos facelift will come with three engine options – a 115hp, 144Nm 1.5-litre petrol engine; a 115hp, 250Nm 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine; and a new 160hp, 253Nm 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine that will replace the existing 140hp, 242Nm 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine. The new engine is expected to offer better performance and fuel efficiency than the outgoing one.

The transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed iMT gearbox for all three engines, while the petrol and diesel engines will also get a CVT gearbox and 6-speed automatic gearbox option respectively. The new turbo-petrol engine is likely to come with either a 7-speed DCT or an 8-speed automatic gearbox option.

Rivals and expected price

The Kia Seltos facelift will compete with other mid-size SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara and Skoda Kushaq. The current Seltos is priced from Rs 9.95 lakh to Rs 17.65 lakh (ex-showroom), and we expect the facelifted model to command a slight premium over that.

The Kia Seltos facelift is one of the most awaited launches of this year and we hope it lives up to its expectations. Stay tuned for more updates on this SUV.
