Flu Vaccine Demand Increases by 30%

Lucknow is experiencing a rise in fever cases, and as a result, there has been a 30% increase in the demand for flu vaccines in the past month. As the temperature drops, people in the city are rushing to clinics to protect themselves from respiratory illnesses, especially the flu. Both private and government hospitals are recommending that patients, especially the elderly, get vaccinated against the flu. Jai Arora, a wholesale medicine supplier, mentioned that the demand for anti-flu vaccines usually goes up during winters. However, this year, an average of 130 vaccine shots were sold daily between August and September, indicating a sustained demand.

Officials from a prominent hospital on Kanpur Road have reported a surge in requests for flu vaccines. In the past month, they have been receiving daily demands for 4-5 vials, compared to the previous rate of 1-2 vials per week. Dr. Virat Verma, a pediatrician, explained that more people, including children and those aged 50 and above, are seeking flu shots as a preventive measure. Prof. MM Faridi, the former principal of Era Medical College, emphasized the importance of flu vaccines. Flu vaccines are particularly crucial for people with compromised immune systems, especially those with chronic illnesses, the elderly, and children.
