Big News

Guess what? The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to give state employees a raise in their Dearness Allowance (DA)! This means more money in the pockets of around 10 lakh state employees and 8 lakh teachers starting from January 2024.

Following the Central Government

Just like the central government did, the Uttar Pradesh government has also decided to increase the DA by 4 percent. This decision was made in a cabinet meeting on February 7th. The Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Deepak Kumar has issued orders related to this exciting news.

DA Raised to 50 Percent

Now, state employees and teachers in Uttar Pradesh will receive 50 percent Dearness Allowance instead of the previous 46 percent. This means more money in their pockets every month! The state government will bear an additional burden of around 350 crore rupees due to this increase.

Arrears Deposited

The increased DA will be effective from January 1st, 2024. This means that the arrears for January and February will be deposited into the employees’ PF accounts. The DA for March will be paid along with the April salary. Employees who are not members of PF will receive it in their PPF accounts or in the form of NSC.

Benefit for Pensioners

Pensioners in Uttar Pradesh will also benefit from this increase in Dearness Allowance. The Dearness Relief for 12 lakh pensioners will also increase by four percent. This decision will provide relief to people from rising inflation. The order to provide increased Dearness Allowance to pensioners is expected to be released soon.

Who Will Benefit?

Regular and full-time employees of state government employees aided educational institutions, and technical education institutions will benefit from this increase in Dearness Allowance. According to the decision, the Dearness Allowance will be paid in cash along with the March salary for employees.
